Manjishta: Indian Madder

Manjishta is a herb that is best known for the red pigment extracted from its roots. Used in soap and cosmetic making, Manjishta is a safe and non-toxic alternative to the harsh chemical pigments that provide the colour but take a toll on your body. Skin disorders such as eczema, hyper-pigmentation, acne and skin allergies are some of the ailments treated with this herb.

Also known as Rubia cordifolia or Indian Madder, it is used in cooling and purifying the blood and dissolving impediments in the blood stream. Purified blood is the first step towards achieving healthy skin and hair. It also reduces inflammation- especially useful in the treatment of inflamed joints.
